Stef Albert conceives complete environments for substantial private residences, country estates, penthouses, yachts and exceptional hospitality properties around the world. Whether creating a new residence from the ground up, transforming a historic estate, reimagining an existing home or designing the complete interior of a newly built property, he develops a unified vision of how the place should look, feel and be lived in.
His work brings architecture, interior architecture, interior design, bespoke furniture, lighting, materials, decorative arts and fine art into one coherent whole. Each commission is personally conceived and creatively directed by Stef Albert. The studio provides the experience, infrastructure and international capability to realise projects of exceptional scale and complexity from first concept through final installation.
Born in South Africa and shaped by years of living and working in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Provence and Italy, Stef Albert brings a broad cultural and artistic perspective to his work. He is also a visual artist, published author and classically trained pianist with a doctorate in piano performance. These disciplines inform the composition, rhythm, proportion and emotional character of the environments he creates.
Stef Albert has worked across Europe, the United States, the Middle East, Africa and Asia for private clients seeking originality, discretion and a deeply personal sense of place. The studio works directly with principals and is equally accustomed to working with family offices, owners’ representatives, estate managers and development teams. Throughout every commission, the client receives one clear point of creative authorship and one consistent vision.
His monograph, Places Lived, Faces Seen: The Homes, Art and Inspiration of Stef-Albert Bothma, brings together the interiors, artworks, travels and experiences that have shaped his creative life.
